My Disco
Turn

MP3

Grind you down (slowly) into lovely sweet coffee beans. Percolate those pills of energetic bliss with some tribal bongos and the kind of minimalism where silence is the unofficial fourth member. The pleasure, as it always has been, can be found in gaps between the metronomic consistency and the occasional, joyous, caffeine-induced spurts.

My Disco
Young

MP3

When I first heard that My Disco would be releasing an 11 minute 'first single' in February I assumed it would be a fairly slow building, mind-draining affair. My Disco have taken out the music category at this year's Spirit Of Youth Awards (aka the SOYAs). The Melbourne trio take home $5,000 in cold hard ca$h and $5,000 worth of Qantas flights. They also get the opportunity to be 'mentored' for the next 12 months by wunder-producer Scott Horscroft, who has previously worked with Silverchair and The Panics. Hmm.. maybe a little bit of a mismatch there.

Is Tuesday the new Friday? Maybe.

Anzac Day is perfectly planted in the middle of this week to nicely break everything up and create another weekend out of nothing this Tuesday night.. and there are more than a few things going on. The Basics finish up the Sydney part of their month long tri-state residency at the Hopetoun Hotel, supported lovingly by Cuthbert and the Nightwalkers. That is a tempting offer - BUT at the Abercrombie Hotel there is a whole lot more action with The Straight Arrows, Cuthbert again (doubling up ..) and Richard In Your Mind and Papa Vs Pretty. Holy shittt that is crazy nice.
