2ser celebrate their 30th birthday with a month long bender
On October 1st iconic community radio station, Sydney's 2ser, turns 30 years old. To celebrate the commencement of their 'dirty thirties' the station will be going on a month of partying/binge-ing with a whole bunch of their friends (who just so happen to be in kickass local and international bands) coming along for the ride. Forget about settling down, mortgaging 'up' and watching the biological clock explode - it's time to smash up the party zone and let the inner-cougar/GILF out.

Occasionally, the stars align and we are treated to a show which showcases just how many special bands occupy this town. Saturday was one of those rare moments when a trio of very different - yet all equally impressive - bands were presented to us like a feast to a hungry teenage girl who is thinking about starting an eating disorder because of the pressure of Dolly magazine.

The Future Prehistoric
Those that have seen Richard In Your Mind live understand that it's on stage that they truly hit their stride with the personal accompaniment to their music adding a lot to their overall sound. In many ways this album plays like a live performance - starting and ending strong with just enough in the middle to keep the people from running off to the bathroom. The nerdy yet engaging live presence of frontman Richard and the celebratory approach to every song is undeniably entertaining.

Straight Arrows + Richard In Your Mind @ Abercrombie Hotel

We battled through this thing called 'bad weather' last night and went out to see The Straight Arrows at the Abercrombie Hotel. All week I have been exciting about seeing these guys on Saturday, but then when this last minute show came up (with an awesome support line-up to boot) it was all just too tempting.

Is Tuesday the new Friday? Maybe.
Anzac Day is perfectly planted in the middle of this week to nicely break everything up and create another weekend out of nothing this Tuesday night.. and there are more than a few things going on. The Basics finish up the Sydney part of their month long tri-state residency at the Hopetoun Hotel, supported lovingly by Cuthbert and the Nightwalkers. That is a tempting offer - BUT at the Abercrombie Hotel there is a whole lot more action with The Straight Arrows, Cuthbert again (doubling up ..) and Richard In Your Mind and Papa Vs Pretty. Holy shittt that is crazy nice.
