Tonight in Sydney: Royal Headache, Border Thieves and OAF's 3rd Birthday Party
Option 1: Royal Headache at Newtown RSL
- the first band (Lowlife) features members of Whores and The Nevada Strange
- super cheap pasta deals at the RSL and cheap beers
- I once wandered into Spectrum and The Warm Feelings were playing and they were fucking amazing. I was a bit drunk but I'm also 95% sure they are actually awesome. Don't act cool and just turn up for Royal Headache, make sure you see this whole show.
- it's FREE entry! But there will also be a donation box to make sure the bands get some money. Don't be a scummy tight ass.
- post-show boozing at Sly Fox (for karaoke) or the Townie (obvs)
Playing times:
8.50 - 9.20 : Lowlife
9.40 - 10.05 : The Warm Feelings
10.15 - 10.55 : Woollen Kits
11.05 - 11.40 : Royal Headache
This Weekend in Sydney: Auraltered State #4, Circle Pit, Whores, Dappled Cities
This is all going to be attacked super quickly, because it's Friday and everyone PoA HQ is mad drunk.
Reverend Kriss Hades has broken his arm and won't be performing at this weekend's Auraltered State #4 (also featuring Royal Headache and Rice Corpse) and has been replaced by FleshFlute. Capacity at the Carriageworks performance space is fairly limited, so make sure you head down early (doors open at 7.30pm).
AND.. finally, thanx to all those legends that have emailed us regarding the details of the Circle Pit, Whores, etc Chippendale house party. We've forwarded on your questions to the organisers. Hopefully you all pass the 'not a psycho' test.
Songs pull out of tonight's Eddy Current show?
According to this dude (our number one source for news now?) Songs have pulled out of tonight's Eddy Current show at the Annandale Hotel and will (apparently) be replaced by local ramshacklers Royal Headache.
No 'official' confirmation on either the Annandale Hotel website or either band's MySpzzz. Also, no word yet on whether or not Songs will be fronting up to for second show tomorrow night.
Update on the relocated Goodgod shows

FINALLY... after what seems like an eternity (x12), Royal Headache's debut 'proper' release (ie. non-demo) is just about to drop like your 14-year old brother's balls.
Royal Headache are supporting every band that is coming to Australia over the next couple of months
There is a strong chance that if you turn up early to see a show featuring a big-time international band/artist in Jamuary and/or Fuguary then you'll be greeted by the punishingly enjoyable sounds of garage boat shed punks Royal Headache.
Sydney pop-punks Royal Headache are looking for some people to drive them down to Melbourne this weekend. More info in this thread.
In related news, Royal Headache will NOT be supporting You Am I at their matinee show this Sunday as previously reported by the Annandale Hotel website and re-published in our gig guide. Thanks to Nic from RIP Society for the heads up.
Fridays in November: Mountain Fold + Goodgod Small Club
Local music journal, Mountain Fold, will be curating Fridays at La Campana's Goodgod Small Club. The three nights will feature performances by awesome local bands Naked On The Vague, The Stabs, Witch Hats, The UV Race and Royal Headache.
Golden Plains 2010 line-up - Pavement, Dinosaur Jr, Dirty Projectors, The Big Pink
The first batch of artists for the 2010 Golden Plains festival was announced this morning. Obviously, Pavement's headline slot was already known, but there are still plenty of lovely inclusions in the first round.
This weekend in Sydney: Flip Out Festival
Ordinarily we save our 'what is happening in Sydney' posts for the final two days of the working week, when the soulless 9-5 has beaten you to a pulp and there is nothing left to look forward to other than putting your feet up and/or getting completely dank-faced at an underground rave party.
Sydney pop punking up-n-comers Royal Headache have received some quality 'internet high fives' from Pitchfork.
Royal Headache
Royal Headache are a new four-piece band from Western Sydney who play raw, ballsy and unbelievably catchy punk music.
