Raekwon adds second Sydney show

Update (11/03): Errrr... um... this is kinda embarrassing.. but, as it turns out, this is Beach Road Hotel in Bryon Bay NOT in Bondi... sorry chaps/ladies - our bad. Thanks to PeteStvns in the comments for the heads up.

Speaking of Deaf Wish, the BIG dilemma this week was whether or not it was worth playing 'hip-hop roulette' on Friday and catching Raekwon at the Metro or playing it safe and seeing Deaf Wish, Straight Arrows and Dead Farmers in a three course serving of awesome at the Supper Club.

Well, it would seem as though this tough decision has been avoided, following the news that Raekwon has added a second Sydney show to his current national tour - Tuesday, March 16 at Beach Road Hotel in Bondi.

Tickets are $35.50 and on sale now via OzTix.

Tickets still available for Dinosaur Jr this Thursday

Last week the Metro Theatre website advertised that Thursday's Dinosaur Jr show was sold out. It turns out they may have shot their load a little early and/or found a few more spare ones somewhere behind the couch, because now there are tickets available via the Metro website, as well as Ticketek and OzTix.

For those heading along to the show, make sure you get down early as The Dinos will be supported by Melbourne's finest purveyors of ball-smashing noise, Deaf Wish.

The Thermals are a bunch of pull out bros

If you were hoping to get down to the Oxford Art Factory tonight to catch some biblical-themed theatrics, courtesy of Portland's The Thermals, then you better start making new plans (ie. Deerhoof at Spectrum).

Via their website:

The Thermals' upcoming Australian tour (March 7-12) has been canceled due to the cancellation of the Lost Weekend Festival. We are really sad we can't make it over there at this time. We hate to disappoint our fans! We plan to reschedule the tour for later this year in support of our new album, which comes out this fall.

Thanks to PoB for the heads up... (ok, not really.. that's kinda just an ol' fashioned plug/spank to let youse all know that wonderful little website/meme is still alive and kicking).

Further are going to be playing more new songs tonight

Via their last minute Facebook event page:

Get along to see Further unleash even more new songs (and get slightly better at playing the less new ones). We're supporting Tel Aviv mentalists Monotonix, who are by all reports a band you'll kick yourself over missing. Seriously. You'll kick yourself in the nuts!

I think the 'tough' decision of whether or not it was worth forking over $25 to see Further play a support slot just got decided for me.

Lil Wayne sentencing postponed, giving him a few more days to try and get some pussy

Yesterday Lil Wayne seemed a little bit bummed about the fact he was spending his last two days of freedom making shitloads of videos and suffering in pain (eight root canals, mudda phuckers).

But today things are looking up for the Nawlins native, with his sentencing delayed because of a fire at Manhattan's Criminal Courthouse.

No word yet on the new re-scheduled sentencing date, but it would seem as though Wayno now has at least a few more days of freedom - which hopefully means a few more mixtape appearances, a dozen or so more videos and (hopefully) a ladies touch.

Ghosts Of Television need a venue for their last ever show

UPDATE (16/02): sorted.

As previously reported, legendary Sydney band Ghosts Of Television recently decided to call it quits.

The band originally planned to play their last EVER show on February 19 at Doldrums (aka Hibernian House) in Surry Hills. But, according to Mr Shaun Prescott the venue is closed and thus the band are now on the lookout for a replacement location.

So, if you own an art space, have a large living room and/or have keys for the hotel formerly known as the Hopetoun then hit the band up via their MySpace (contact details ahoy) and let them know you wanna help out.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on what happens with this as it all develops.

The Kill Devil Hills vs Tucker B's

This interview of The Kill Devil Hills by Andrew Houston from the Tucker B's is like an unexpected bowl of spiked punch (ie. amazing):

OK Alex, time for some serious business. You recorded your most recent record with Burke "Bucka Bucka" Reid. Did Bucka Bucka spend all his pre-production time talking about how he wanted you guys to be more like The Tucker B's and that as a band you needed to get "in the pocket" before he would record you?

(Not taking anything away from Rav's recent fiery 10 questions with the KDH lads... obvs).

You can catch both the Kill Devil Hills AND the mighty mighty Tucker B's playing this Friday at the Annandale Hotel and at the Heritage Hotel in Wollongong on Saturday.

The full list of remaining dates on the tour:

Thursday, February 11: Northern Star, Newcastle
Friday, February 12 The Annandale, Sydney
Saturday, February 13: Heritage Hotel, Wollongong
Sunday, February 14: Clarendon Guesthouse, Blue Mountains
Wednesday, February 17: The Republic Bar, Hobart
Thursday, February 18: Hotel New York, Launceston
Friday, February 19: Rocket Bar, Adelaide
Saturday, February 20: Corner Hotel, Melbourne

Those craving some more lunacy from Mr Tucker Houston can catch a little bit of him acting like a clowny fool towards the end of this lovely video.
