Have you ever had one of those nights where you go out fully expecting to only mildly enjoy yourself, and be home by 10pm, only to have your mind exploded by some awesomeness?
Last night, recently Seniored Jonny and I trundled our way to Spectrum for some sort of live music show. What we got instead was an onslaught, the proportions of which were slightly bigger than any regular onslaught before it, but still smaller than that massive tsunami in south east asia a couple of years ago. That shit was massive.
All the signs pointed to shite. From seeing that overly mutton-shopped guy from thirsty merc in the street on the way there, to the amazingly shit , yet still incredibly full of themselves opening act "Warhorse", we could have been forgiven for taking our bat and ball and going home right away. But perserverence pays off in the long run, and we were not dissapointed.
Batrider opened proceedings with a rollicking set of dirty prog-rockers that split the eardrums and shattered the expectations of all in their presence.

Obviously the pics are a bit dark due to the fact we were about three inches from Sarah from Batriders face after she moved the microphone down onto the floor in front of us, so we didn"t want to blind her with flash...

The photos hence turned out a bit dark and brooding, kinda like the band themselves...

Then Snowman took the stage. I don"t know what i was expecting, but what i got was a brain explosion from the amazing stage presence of the band (particularly that little guy in the middle), but most of all from the shattering thrash-rock that they pummeled into the heads of the audience with their variety of instruments.

Snowman have a bad case of Foxy bass player syndrome. Come to think of it, so do Batrider...

Then the night was topped off by a great chat with our new bestest friends from the riders of bats about subjects as diverse as PHP programming and hipsters in halloween attire and warehouse parties (TODAY, Saturday 28th Oct, 15 Faversham Ave, Marrickville from 2pm to 10pm, all ages! But SSSHHHH, it"s a secret.)
