Mercury Prize Nominations announced

And the nominations are...

Bat For Lashes - Fur And Gold
Young Knives - Voices Of Animals And Men
Jamie T - Panic Prevention
Klaxons - Myths Of The Near Future
The View - Hats Off To The Buskers
Amy Winehouse - Back To Black
Dizzee Rascal - Maths & English
Fionn Regan - The End Of History
Maps - We Can Create
Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare
Basuiat Strings with Seb Roachford - Basquiet Strings
New Young Pony Club - Fantastic Playroom

Going from past results my money is more on a debut than a previous winner (so Dizzee Rascal and Arctic Monkeys are out of the running). Maybe Klaxons or Jamie T will get the nod. I am unfamiliar with some of the artists in the running so probably not the best judge.

We aren't even going to mention the Mercury Prize

Any cred Britian-lands Mercury Prize had was lost today as the bright coloured trendsetting Klaxons took out the prize for 2007. Remember when Dizzee Rascal won it? Ah, better times. Anyways.. we have some news about The Shins, Tokyo Police Club and Sir Paul McCartney. Clickity.
