Saul Williams to release free Internet album

It does seem to be all the rage at the moment - and why not! Giving the fans what they want, requesting they put a value on your music and bypassing the traditional record label model seems to make perfect sense to us.

Poet/rapper/activist Saul Williams has a new album called The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust which you can pre-order now from the album website.

The album, produced by NIN's Trent Reznor, is set to be released on November 1st with all those who pre-order before then receiving an email on the release day to go and download it.

With the pre-order there are two options - to pay $5 and get the album in three different formats - 192Kbps MP3, 320Kbps MP3 and FLAC lossless audio - or not pay and just get the album in 192Kbps MP3 format. All of the audio files will be DRM free and both options include a PDF with artwork and lyrics.

It would seem as though Radiohead have definitely started something here.
