First line-up for the Golden Plains Festival announced

As if your wallet was paining enough because of the awesome musical treats heading our way in the first few months of next year.

The first line-up for the Golden Plains Festival was announced today and it looks a little bit like this...

  • Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings
  • Ween
  • The Vines
  • Iron and Wine
  • The Dirtbombs
  • Beirut
  • The Bang Gang Deejays
  • Optimo
  • British India
  • Buffalo Tom
  • Crookers
  • The Bamboos
  • Future Of The Left
  • South Rakkas Crew
  • The Scientists Of Modern Music
  • Jane Badlet and Sir
  • Jay Reatard
  • Pikelet
  • Kamikaze Trio
  • The Sea and Cake

A double headline Sydney side-show featuring Iron and Wine and Beirut would be somewhat awesome.

The festival will take place from March 8 to 10 (Labour Day long weekend) at the lovely Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre in Victoria. A whole load more acts are set to be announced closer to the date.

You can enter the ticket ballot NOW via the official festival site.

The Vines have canceled all of their upcoming shows - including festival appearances (Homebake, Pyramid Rock and Big Day Out) and their scheduled November tour of Japan. Craig Nicholls' mental condition (he was diagnosed with aspergers syndrome in 2004) has dramatically worsened over the past month to the point where he needs to take some time away from the spotlight to seek medical help. #

More artists have been added to next year's Big Day Out including local acts The Drones, Sparkadia, The Vines, Children Collide, Mercy Arms and (surprise surprise) Little red, as well as some international peeps - Serj Tankian, Dropkick Murphys, Black Kids, Hot Chip, Holy Ghost, Lupe Fiasco and Z-Trip. NME apologies for inflicting The Vines on the world. Will they do the same for The Klaxons in 2011? #
