My Disco escape to Paradise
My Disco are set to release the follow-up to their 2006 debut, Cancer, on February 25.
The new album, Paradise, was recorded by Steve Albini in Chicago and, according to theirSpace, will consist of ten songs and run for exactly 38.3 minutes.
The first taste from the new album is the title track. You can give it a listen below.
To us it doesn't sound like the band have branched out too far from what they delivered with Cancer. We were kind of hoping for a merging of the precision of their last record with some of the rawer elements from their early work. We reserve our judgment, however, until we get our hands on the rest of the record.
Tour dates in support of the release are set to be announced shortly.

My Disco have taken out the music category at this year's Spirit Of Youth Awards (aka the SOYAs). The Melbourne trio take home $5,000 in cold hard ca$h and $5,000 worth of Qantas flights. They also get the opportunity to be 'mentored' for the next 12 months by wunder-producer Scott Horscroft, who has previously worked with Silverchair and The Panics. Hmm.. maybe a little bit of a mismatch there. #

Ohana and Fabulous Diamonds have been named as the supports for My Disco's Sydney show, stream the new Gnarls Barkley album, put some cake in yer hole, Children Collide sign record deal and Be Your Own Pet get some of their songs banned.

Things that happened on the weekend
The My Disco show ended with police aggression, The Paper Scissors rocked it, Coachella is coming to Australia and we glued 30 minutes of music together and called it a podcast.
