Shortlist for Australian Music Prize announced

The Australian Music Prize is an annual $25,000 award for the best local release of the year. It is judged by twenty industry folks and aims to reward artistic quality over music sales.

The award has been running for two years now with The Drones taking it out in 2005 for Wait Long By The River And The Bodies Of Your Enemies Will Float By and Augie March winning in 2006 for Moo, You Bloody Choir.

The shortlist for 2007 was announced last night in Sydney:

One word: DEVASTATIONS!

The winner will be announced on March 13.
