The first line-up was announced on Triple J this morning...
So, the initial rumours seemed to be pretty much on the money. Nothing there to get us too excited though.
The festival will take place over two nights, August 2nd and 3rd, at the usual location - Belongil Fields, Byron Bay.
Tickets go on sale at 9am on Thursday, May 22 and will cost you roughly $4000.
Actually, the ticket prices are a little insane. If I am reading this correctly it will cost you around $347 if you want to attend the festival, offset your carbon footprint with a 'green' ticket and camp on the site.
All tickets will be available solely via a brand new ticketing website, QJump, which has been especially built out of re-inforced steel, duct tape and Clag glue so it's able to withstand the barrage of 'festival junkies' when the tickets get released.
Ticket purchases will be limited to four event and four camping tickets per transaction and once again, in a move to try and stop ticket scalping skum, you will need to know the name and date of birth of those that you are buying tickets for. All of the tickets will be non-transferable - meaning that you will not be able to call up Splendour HQ and get them to change the name on a ticket. However, due to the new ticketing website technology being utilised you will able to recover a ticket if you lose it.

God what a disappointment. Not worth the trip, for me.
Anyone going to go?

i got free tickets last year at the last minute and decided to go..
it was incredibly bad.. painful experience all around.. the crowds, the completely 'un-festival' vibe... urgh..

Devo rhymes with 'sideshow', which I don't think is a coincidence...
Where's My Bloody Valentine? That'll be the tipping point, although Sigur Ros is a pretty nice surprise.

such a disappointing line up... I think my "zero track record" of making it to Splendour will stay in tact... the effort of getting accommodation, tix for a fairly ordinary line up is too much...
I have also heard that accommodation in Byron is already sold out...

we stayed at a real nice little place about 45 minutes south called Evans Head when we went last year//...
was nice.. we won a meat tray at the local pub..
crowds sucked at the festival though.. actually.. it wasn't even a festival.. it was a paddock where fluro kids could take drugs and watch triple j bands..
fuck i am an angry old man

I only went in 2006 - wasn't going to miss Sonic Youth. Actually wasn't a bad line up, TV On the Radio killed and Brian Wilson was there. Thought the festival was good compared to the bigger ones. Heard that last yrs went the shit route, the line up was certainly poor. I stayed at "Macca's Camping Ground" in Mullum which had a strobe light out the front of it. I camped with goats. Might go again, friends are keen...but for 199? To see Devo and then whinge probably.
