Dead Letter Chorus build studio, record album, play shows, don't murder kittens

Given the current state of interest rates and gigantic shortage of affordable housing in Sydney, it comes as a great surprise to us that Dead Letter Chorus have somehow managed to fight the trend and build themselves their own studio.

The studio, located in the picturesque town of Yowie Bay in Sydney's south, has been hand built by rock n roll the band over the past few weeks/months/years. The band is currently tucked away in their little paradise-ish space rehearsing material for their debut album.

No actual details on the album (title, release date, percentage of love songs etc) but words such as 'epic' and 'journey' have been thrown in our direction to give us an idea of what it will roughly sound like. For realzz?

You can catch the band showing off their new stuff at two shows at the end of the month that have been lovingly described as 'special'.

Friday, May 30: The Heritage Hotel, Bulli - FREE!
Saturday, May 31: The Vanguard, Newtown

Tickets for The Vanguard show will set you back around $12 pre-sale via Moshtix or $15 on the door. You can also get the usual dinner/wine/massage tickets that are, understandably, a little bit more expensive.

You can download some of the band's tunes via their Triple J Unearthered page.

We have no evidence that Dead Letter Chorus have been murdering kittens. Sorry, if you want them to be. They are 'folky' not 'gothy' or 'kitten-murdery'.
