Dan Deacon gets older, releases more info about Bromst, adds extra Sydney show?
First things first.. right HERE is the NEW and FRESH Dan Deacon track Get Older...
It starts a bit like stock-standard wacky Deacon then gets a bit live instrumentation-ey. Unexpected theatrics?
Actually, this use of more 'traditional' instruments isn't too much of a surprise. Dan revealed several months back that his new album, entitled Bromst, was going to have a much more organic feel and sound a lot less glitchy than his last offering - the slightly inconsistent Spiderman Of The Rings.
Get Older will feature as the closing number on the new record, which is scheduled to be released on March 24.
Here is the spooky spooky spooky cover art...

...and the mildly humorous tracklisting...
- Build Voice
- Red F
- Paddling Ghost
- Snookered
- Of the Mountains
- Surprise Stefani
- Wet Wings
- Woof Woof
- Slow With Horns / Run for Your Life
- Baltihorse
- Get Older
Baltihorse = Baltimore art scene anthem?
Deacon recently spoke to MTV about Bromst and let them record a bit of him and his 14 member band (!) rehearsing the new material...
It seems unlikely that Deacon will appear with a full band on his upcoming Australian tour in February/March BUT hopefully we get to hear a couple of the new tracks in some form.
Speaking of Deaconfest 2009 (tm), a few more dates have recently popped into the itinerary...
Thursday, February 26: Venue TBA, Sydney
Friday, February 27: Summer Tones, Oxford Art Factory, Sydney
Saturday, Febraury 28: Summer Tones, The Espy, Melbourne
Thursday, March 5: The Tote, Melborune
Friday, March 6: Summer Tones, The Zoo, Brisbane
Saturday, March 7: Golden Plains Festival, Meredith
Sunday, March 8: Perth Festival, Perth
So, an extra Sydney show. Double Deacon! No venue as yet, but here is hoping that it's a tiny art space in Surry Hills and/or my lounge room.
