Hey kids! MGMT are coming to Australia!

MGMT

MGMT hate vowels. Australia loves MGMT. Australia hates vowels? STRL hates vowels?

95% of all radio requests in the past two months have involved the word 'MGMT' (apparently!) and the critics can't get enough of the band's 'unique' splash of colour over the drab world of popstastic-musica.

"You'll be hard-pressed to find a record with more musical depth and warmth all year." (New Musical Express)

"A sugary feast for the senses." (Uncut)

"Fucked." (Michael Pierce)

AND it's just been announced that the duo will be bringing their FUN attitude, bagful of catchy tunes and wicked freshness to our shores for a short tour.

Saturday, December 6: Belvoir Amphitheatre, Perth
Tuesday, December 9: Enmore Theatre, Sydney
Wednesday, December 10: The Tivoli, Brisbane
Thursday, December 11: The Palace, Melbourne

Tickets for all shows go on sale on August 19. Perth peeps can get tickets via Heatseeker, while everyone else can pick them up from Ticketek.

There is also a Frontier Touring pre-sale 'going down' from 3pm (EST) on August 14. Email someone at Frontier Touring to find out info about that. Or maybe call their switchboard. Or write a letter. Or hire a skywriter.

What? [feign shock horror] Are you suggesting that they're nothing more than media hype? A gimmick? Can't be! Not these guys with the body paint and the wacky outfits!

Lochy

Hate to say it Kids but MGMT were terrible @ Rock Werchter, no stage presence and made you realise justhow little depth was in the first album!

Seymour

Yeah they were lame at Werchter, but saw them the week before at Glasto and they were killer.

No one is going to pay that much for a ticket to MGMT. Even the 'cool kids' will have enough sense to resist.

They're not even that good.

one just went for $200..

Sean

they sold out the hordern? that's INSANE.

blame the tweens. apparently MGMT are jam hot, way cooler than miley cyrus.

I like MGMT, so I walked past the enmore on the way to uni to get tickets... but I was thwarted by a ridiculously long line of kids in school uniform. it was after 9 o'clock. THE BELL HAD GONE. they had NO reason to be there. glad I didn't get tickets though because I would rather lick a tramp than go to the hordern. true story.

I like MGMT even though only half the album is good... I actually just acquired some of their back catalogue, probably from when they were Management so going to give that a listen... I'm going to see them at Meredith... don't think I could handle a concert with all the little kids.

ah.. yeh .. relationship of command had its moments.. but massively 'over produced' IMHO..

I think all threads should turn into an ATDI thread at some point..

I was offered a ticket to MGMT and although I'm not much of a fan, curiosity got the better of me. Their sound was pretty decent from where I was. Their band included an additional 3 members and a guy that just wandered around filming them.

I think Luke Steele frightened the kids. Actually, I think Nick Littlemore did that ... he came out for a minute looking super creepy.

I will see them at Meredith on the weekend and report back
