Little Newsroids: The Smith Street Band, Holy Balm, Fuck Buttons
1a. Thankfully, the amp that was stolen from The Smith Street Band after their Melbourne show last Saturday has now been retrieved. #ampgate unfolded yesterday on The Band's Facebook Page as frontman Wil kept fans updated on the progress of tracking down the culprits. Eventually, possibly seeing the long arm of the law closing in on them, they contacted him and (after a little bit of cheeky bartering) returned the amp to it's rightful owner. Dazza C has a great rundown of the whole thing over on Faster Louder.
1b. Related: DZ's (accidental) amp theft of 2009. Wowee, what a shitfight that turned into? Comment parties right? And Shudder at our fantastic grammar. Urgh. Nah, it's cool, everyone spoke like that back then. Wink.
1c. Realising the painful Japandroids clash with their August 31 show, The Smith Street Band have now announced a second Sydney show for Sunday, September 1. Tickets on sale now. It's an afternoon show, but is still listed as an 18+ event (maybe confirm that with the venue, kids). Either way, the most shirtless, fist-pumping weekend of all weekends.
2. Holy Balm have announced their final show for 2013 — a free, early (5pm) show this Thursday at The Loft, UTS. It'll also be broadcast live on 2SER for those that can't get out of the office by then.
3. Fuck Buttons have just announced a Sydney show for when their in the country in October for ATP's Release The Bats. October 24 at Oxford Art Factory. Tickets on sale this Thursday (August 15) at 10am via Moshtix.
