Unless you have been living under a large rock-shaped plastic thing for the past few weeks, you know all about Muxtape. It's arguably the greatest online mixtape making machine EVER. It's also nice, clean, friendly and been embraced by many musical peeps as a nice way to give people access to fresh and/or awesome stuff.
Case in point - Menomena's Muxtape, which consists of some fantastic rare songs, b-sides and other goodies by the Portland outfit.
Some other notable Muxes that we have stumbled across over the past little bit...
RZA's Staten Island Ferry Ride mix, which seamlessly goes from Paul Simon to Wu-Tang Clan to Elton John.
Albert Hammond Jr's mix is very enjoyably nostalgic.
Actually, both The RZA's and Albert's lists are part of a project by New York Magazine to get 'cool NY folks' to create dope-ass summer mixtapes.
Mike Shinoda, who .. er.. plays in some band called Linkin Park, has great hip-hop taste. This hip-hop mix is also verrrry freakin' awesome.
Unfortunately, Muxtape can't be searched, so finding mixes with songs you like is kinda like digging in da crates at your local, badly cataloged vinyl shop. Except less smelly, dusty and without that creepy, bearded guy behind the counter giving you funny looks. So, yeah, obviously not as good.
