Songs land Deerhunter support slot, prep debut album

Sydney's Songs recently ensured us (via electronic mail) that their debut album "wasn't too far away". Later (after I hit the handy 'reply' button) they reevaluated the situation and stated that October would most likely be when it would 'drop' and/or 'hit shelves'.

They also mentioned that it was sounding a little bit more polished than their previously released EP, a modification perfectly suited for their clean-cut pop sound. They didn't give away any other details (title, cover art, number of songs about 'lust' or the 'The GFC') but the sprinkle of info (cock tease) they have offered up is enough to get us more than a little bit excited.

You can catch the band showing off some of their new songs at a whole bunch of upcoming shows. And holy fawk, these bros be playing shows - including THREE of the shows on the upcoming 'indie-kidz-creamfest' Deerhunter tour.

Monday, June 8: FBi benefit @ Metro Theatre, Sydney
Thursday, June 11: Manning Bar, Sydney (w/ Deerhunter)
Friday, June 12: Corner Hotel, Melbourne (w/ Deerhunter)
Saturday, June 13: The Zoo, Brisbane (w/ Deerhunter)
Sunday, June 21: The Vangaurd, Sydney (w/ Je Suis Animal)
Friday, June 26: Spectrum, Sydney (w/ St Helens)
Friday, July 7: Annandale Hotel, Sydney (w/ Love of Diagrams)
Tuesday, August 1: Spectrum, Sydney (w/ Mum Smokes)

Songs will be joined at the Manning Bar show by fellow Sydneysiders Naked On The Vague. Deerhunter have also added a second Sydney show to their tour at the Annandale Hotel on June 22, where they will be supported by Traps and Straight Arrows.
