Splendour In The Grass rumoured line-up
The official announcement isn't until tomorrow morning but, according to this unofficial Facebook group, this is the line-up for Splendour In The Grass 2009.
- The Flaming Lips
- The Specials
- Bloc Party
- Friendly Fires
- MGMT
- Birds of Tokyo
- Glass Towers
- Grinspoon
- Gutter Twins
- Jack Ladder
- Janes Addiction
- Josh Pyke
- Kram
- Hilltop Hoods
- Leader Cheetah
- Little Birdy
- Midnight Juggernauts
- Polaroid Fame
- The Middle East
- White Lies
- Yuksek
- Yves Klein Blue
- Decoder Ring
- Manchester Orchestra
This line-up has also 'popped up' on Wikipedia. Two independent/reliable sources - that means it's confirmed. right?
From that list it's pretty safe to assume that The Flaming Lips and The Specials will both be coming as they have already locked in some sideshows. MGMT, Bloc Party, Friendly Fires and Gutter Twins are the other 'big' names that we have heard yelled out around the place as well. There is also some talk of Animal Collective being on the final roster (although they weren't included on this list) which is surely something that would get indie kids blowing their minds/loads over.
Oh.. and just to add some 'weight' behind this rumour list. The Facebook group was created by this guy who is also a proud member of the MAN DAY group and the Australia - Like It Or Leave It group. It is almost certain that he has a giant Southern Cross tattoo on his back as well. It's unconfirmed whether or not one of the stars is a boxing kangeroo and/or a potrait of John Williamson.
The festival will take place on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 of July at the usual location - Belongil Fields, Byron Bay.

Seems like that lineup was exactly right.
Not too much to get me excited, except for The Flaming Lips.
Sean
agreed. boring.

Yeah it doesn't really excite me... Jane's Addiction and The Flaming Lips would be good... after MGMT's performance at Meredith I would actually pay to not see them...

maybe they should rename it 'splenda', because it's so dull and not sugar etc.
