Straight Arrows sign to Rice Is Nice
After a short era of courting/fondling, Sydney's finest bratty-punk-cunts, Straight Arrows, have announced that they've officially signed to local label/upstart Rice Is Nice.
The first spawn of this unique mating experiment will be the band's loooooooooong awaited debut, It's Happening. The record, due out "sometime in November", has just been mastered by Gameboy-playing hero Brent SPOD Griffin in his Notoriously Comfortable Marrickville Home Studio.
The band were swamping through the wastelands and thus unavailable for comment, but released this statement earlier today:
"Straight Arrows are engorged with pride to announce their signing to Rice Is Nice Records for their forthcoming debut LP. We hope they can continue to operate at their excellent standard, and not be brought down by us. We even somehow raised the standard of our new album to glorious Medium Fidelity".
Expect some early leaks shortly (ie. as soon as we are able to raise the funds to bribe the label or band to give us some love).

awesome news, but did spod really master it in a home studio? dude's got my respect, he's got good ears but... just my 2c, mastering at home doesn't sound like the finished result the album deserves. I know straight arrows aren't a hi-fi type band (as evidenced in their "medium fidelity" call) but still...
nb: I'm not an "everything has to be done in a studio" type - e.g. I'm a firm believer in it being possible to do good mixes in a non-permanent/treated space, and of course home recording has yielded phenomenal results - but mastering is one of those things that... I dunno, you just want it done in a space that can offer some guarantees on outcomes?
why am I even posting this on a message board when it will have no bearing on the result? and why am I banging on about this without having heard the master in the first place? and why am expressing my inner dialogue before I hit the "Add Comment" button? the questions never stop....
