Things happening in Sydney this weekend

A quick look at this page reveals a startling FACT - there is a lot of stuff happening around the place this weekend.

It all starts TONIGHT (Friday) with Black Magic Tricks opening night. What is Black Magic Tricks you ask? It's ART. It's We Buy Your Kids. It's Greedy Hen. Two of the deadliest duos in the history of Sydney art. This will be great.

Here is a poster with less gush and more cold hard factoids.

Also, starting TODAY and running until Sunday is the super-large Playground Weekender festival. Ok, so maybe Wisemans Ferry isn't really in 'Sydney' BUT it's only a quick zip up a highway AND you are there - amongst the tranquility AND the shitload of quality bands. The line-up features a lovely mix of international megastars (Crystal Castles, Whomadewho, Lyrics Born, Jose Gonzales, The Streets, Cold War Kids, Primal Scream etc) and homegrown mega-talent (SPOD, Peabody, WOW, Art Rush, Art Rush, Seekae, Fait Accompli). Word is that there are still some last minute tickets available as well.

AND then there is Sunday. Big Sunday.

The main event is the annual Laneway Festival happening down at Circular Quay. The line-up this year features No Age, Girl Talk, Jay Reatard, Talons and billions more. Hopefully, it's not a complete clusterfuck like Melbourne was.

And even if Laneway is overcrowded with tough biker punks and/or full of Police trying to bust skulls, there are still (literally) thousands of other things happening - including the No Age all ages house party, the TOP SECRET Wolfmother and Die! Die! Die! show AND the new Jordy Lane semi-electro (?) project, Shady Lane, performing with a whole host of top shelf local acts at the Annandale. Something for everybody!

Need peeeektures!

Finally dug my Chuck Anderson print out of box-ville, and now have it hanging on the wall. I think it's the only print I've ever bought.

I'm sick of living in box-ville.
