Episode 38

LIVE podcast using a single record player and a couple of CD players. Guess which ones are the vinyl ones!!!

This was a practice dj set. You see I have some sort of 'dj thing' organised in a couple of weeks and being a little rusty on the 'wheels of wickedness' I decided to dust off the couple of compact disc players I had, the 'My First Mixer' and my new record player and put it all together to see what would happen.

And what did happen t-was this..

1. Batrider - I Never Feel Like I'm Here
From their fantastic debut full length album Tara - in stores VERY soon.

2. Dead Farmers - Violence
Fucking awesome 7 inch single from this local, non-conforming, wild punk rock outfit. They will be supporting Batrider for their August 31 show at the Annandale Hotel.

3. Telecom - Second Feature
I have never had the chance to see this band live but have heard nothing but good things about them.

4. Straight Arrows - Something Happens
Yeh we played a song by The Straight Arrows not that long ago but they deserve another trip around. They will also be supporting Batrider at above mentioned show (August 31 by the way).

5. Asobi Seksu / Cassettes Won't Listen - Strawberries (Cassettes Won't Listen Remix)
Tempo changes much? Yes I know little about this song except that I like to speed it up and slow it down randomly (and it has a killer piano bit). Games and fun.

6. The Cult - See Sells Sanctuary
Classic track. A lovely girl at work bought this for me for a couple of dollars from the Rozelle markets when she got word I had started collecting seven inches.

7. The Olympic Hopefuls - Holiday
This awesome indie outfit renamed themselves to The Hopefuls a few years back and I never heard from them again. I have kept them filed under 'bands I need to come back to'.

8. TV On The Radio - Wasted Weekend
Previously unreleased B-side - included on the Province single.

9. Feist - Mushaboom (Postal Service Remix)
Just a snippet. Because I am such a tease like that.

TVOTR's Tunde Adebimpe, Subtle's Adam "Doseone" Drucker, and Mike Patton of Peeping Tom, Faith No More, Tomahawk (etc etc..) have apparently joined forces and created some sort of obscure vocal 'super group'. The trio are planning to get together sometime before the end of the year to work on the as-yet untitled project and to "mess around vocally and see what comes of it". #

TV On The Radio have unveiled the first track from their forthcoming Dear Science, record. It's called Golden Age and you can give it a listen over at the band's website. It's a very interesting and different sounding song with Kyp taking control of the singing duties instead of Tunde. #
