Blokes You Can Trust

Last night I was fortunate enough to attend a screening of the forthcoming Cosmic Psychos doco Blokes You Can Trust (thanks Tubsy Yolo). To say it was "fucking amazing" [press quote] would be an understatement. Equally unimportant in this Polaroids Of Margaret and Dave Roids wrap-up is a listing of the celeb appearances/endorsements — Eddie Veddar, Butch Vig, Buzz Osborne — as the band's "get an underdog up ya" history is, rightly so, put forward as the main focus. Perfectly shaped into an engaging narrative by director Matt Weston, the documentary is equal parts; patriotic (a bunch of Aussie bogans who became one of the influential/important bands of that whole grunge thing), informative (do YOU know how to shove a 50 cent coin up your ass and then drop it into a glass?) and hilarious (mostly via Ross Knight's storytelling larrikinism).

Blokes You Can Trust will be showing in Palace Cinemas from August 8. The band will also be embarking on a national tour in support of the film's release.

Friday, August 9: The Hi Fi, Melbourne
Saturday, August 10: The Metro, Sydney
Friday, August 16: Amplifier Bar, Perth
Saturday, August 17: Fowlers Live, Adelaide
Saturday, August 24: The Hi Fi, Brisbane
Saturday, November 9: Brisbane Hotel, Hobart
