The rough - and dare I say 'amateur' - nature of this four track recording is not unexpected. After all - it is a demo. However, the tape recorded rawness perfectly compliments the musical style of The Bangle Tigers, enough to say that this is how the group should sound even if they were to record a 'proper' EP.
The catchiness of the sub two-minute opener, Dust Is The Enemy - propelled along by a fantastic up-beat fuzzy backing and topped with lazily delivered vocals - encapsulates everything that is enjoyable about the Sydney trio. Across all four tracks on this release they present their own brand of 'roughed up' pop music - messy around the edges yet still based around a traditional flowing delivery.
The band don't shift too far from their core of 'dark pop music' and have little need to. Their sound, both refreshing and filthy at the same time, is original enough to not draw direct comparisons, yet also packed with enough familiarity to be immediately enjoyable. Hopefully, the band not only keep this nice balance but also don't go and clean things up anytime soon.
