Muscles
Guns Babes Lemonade

There is definitely an unmistakable DIY lo-fi charm to the music that Muscles creates. At times on this, his debut full length, he inadvertently plays the role of Mike Skinner in an akubra with his cleverly produced electronic soundscapes laced with bedroom recorded vocals describing everyday inner city living.

Ultimately though his poor lyrics and limited subject matter is what lets him down. At times it seems as though large instrumental portions on some of the tracks would have made them a lot more enjoyable.

This album completely melts into the Australian indie electronic sub-culture it calls home. It doesn't push any of the boundaries currently established and, although these songs are enjoyable as a snapshot of the drug-powered disco balls that Australia is currently hypnotised by, there is a total lack of substance.

That 'Sweaty' song is easily my pick for the worst track to wake you up of a morning. Ever. I speak from experience - multiple times (I've since ceased to use clock radios)
