Cold War Kids have written some really great tracks for this album, but unfortunately they are interspersed between a bunch of self-indulgent filler to make up the numbers.
It's a real shame as this album could have been so much more rewarding to listen to, instead being soured by the stop start nature of getting into a great track, only to be brought down again by an overperformed, forcibly delivered one.
As a whole it falls to pieces, but if listened to selectively the album can be thoroughly enjoyed.

The (initial) line-up for the 2009 Playground Weekender has been announced and includes Primal Scream, The Streets, Cold War Kids, Crystal Castles, Whomadewho, The Paper Scissors, Pomomofo, WOW and many many more. The festival will take place from February 6 to 8 and once again be held at Wiseman's Ferry (about an hour or so north of Sydney). Thanks to kidkym via the forum for the heads up. #

Over at MTV you can stream all of the Cold War Kids' new album Loyalty to Loyalty. The album officially hits stores on September 23, although locally you should be able to hunt down a copy from tomorrow. #
