Nas
Hip Hop Is Dead

It's a real show of how shit hip-hop music has become when an album with a slightly interesting title, like this release, can become one of the most controversial things in the genre.

Don't forget, it was only 18 years ago when N.W.A were banned off all radio stations and hip-hop was stretching the boundaries of pop culture every week.

With the exception of a handful of tracks (the lead single in particular) this is a mostly bland album, where, although Nas' poetry-style rapping skills are showcased, it's just not enough to make this an interesting and/or relavent piece of music.

Do yourself a favour and dust off your copy of Illmatic and listen to that instead.

20 respectable rock and rap acts that peaked with debut albums. I completely agree with the majority of the hip-hop selections on this list. Nas' Illmatic for example, is around a trillion times better than anything else he has ever done. #
