When we first wrote about Frightened Rabbit back in the free-spirited summer of 2007 they were a funny band. Their press shots, goofily depicting them dressed as tea-sipping wrestlers, was a direct paradox of their unsettlingly honest lyrical style and off-centre indie pop charisma. They crafted songs that literally felt like they were held together by just a piece of string (and the occasional clever one liner), yet often draped in a clear glaze of pop sensibility.
The other day we sat down inside the magical bubble world called Twitter and spoke to lovely Scottish lads,
Frightened Rabbit, about their upcoming new album, the general acceptance of the 'cunt' word and Kevin Bloody Wilson.
We have just received an email from an 'industry insider' letting us know that this Wednesday's
Echo & The Bunnymen show, which was scheduled to take place at the Enmore Theatre, has now been moved to the Metro. The date has also been changed to
Tuesday, February 2.
This is the first single from
Frightened Rabbit's new untitled album, which is expected to be released sometime early next year.
A fantastic new animated clip for the Scottish lads' latest single.
We welcome in 2009 with ghetto white boy insanity and morbid Scottish pop masterpieces.
SPOD, beer, Frightened Rabbit, beer, beer, Bluejuice, 2009.
Although Shopping-mas has taken a massive punch to the kidneys this year (the world has run out of money!) it hasn't stopped the lovely, morbid Scots
Frightened Rabbit from giving away a brilliant FREE festive song.

Can someone help me out here??
I have never been to a gig at the Beach Road but know it’s rather large.
Is there a chance it will get too packed? Should I get there early?
Should I skip dinner and if so does the Beach Road stock Pork Stretching’s or jerky?

The Beach Road is a huge hotel, many levels.
I saw Dr Dog there and it was about 70% full.
Hard to say how big a crowd Frightened Rabbit will pull, but a free
show should guarantee a big crowd you would think.

Cheers! Exactly the response I was after.

I like the self serve water tap, the crates with the cushions, and the arcade machines. I've only ever seen local bands there though so can't gauge the crowd, but locals aside, Bondi is full of foreigners who will possibly be aware of a Scottish band.

yeh.. i was actually surprised.. it's a decent venue.. (besides the fact its all the way over in bondi town)

I've been to quite a few gigs there (never being the type to turn down a freebie) and even when there are big bands I've never seen people being turned away. The fact that people need to go downstairs to smoke means that there's a fairly constant flux of people going in and out. You'd certainly be safe to have dinner beforehand, anyway. Cabins are awesome but they won't fill the joint.

Isn't that outdoor area with the crates a smoking section?
bella
DUDES, eat the schnitzel at the restaurant upstairs/next room while you wait for the band. YUM

ps Jonny stop with all this "best song of twenty-ten" stuff before you get through with '09. When are us geeks gonna get the year-end list we've been bonering over since mid-November?

YEAH ... i know... mad slack...
